Liberty HomeCare and Hospice COVID-19 Update | March 16, 2020
Liberty Home Care & Hospice Services (“Liberty”) is closely monitoring the evolving situation regarding the COVID-19 virus and its continued spread. Much about the virus is still unknown, but we do know that many in the population we serve are at greater risk for the most serious impacts associated with this new strain of virus. Liberty has, therefore, implemented precautionary measures to ensure the health and safety of our patients, their family members and our staff.
Based upon recommendations of The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (“CMS”) and The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”), Liberty has educated its staff and shall continue to educate our residents and their families on symptom awareness for COVID-19 and infection control best practices.
Liberty conducts a screening of each staff member each day to verify they do not have any symptoms associated with COVID-19 (such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, runny nose, or achiness), have not been exposed to others either confirmed to have COVID-19 or with symptoms of COVID-19 and have not travelled to any at-risk locations. In addition, Liberty has clear protocols for staff to stay home and not come to work if they are ill or symptomatic. Plans are already in place to handle a wide range of emergencies and are being updated and evaluated as we receive new information. We are working closely with other health care providers in our communities to help ensure the health and safety of all.
We will stay up to date with the latest information from the CMS, CDC and appropriate state agencies. Our top priority is the health and well-being of our patients and those who care and support them each and every day. We will continue to work with state and local public health and emergency preparedness officials to protect our patients.
Given that this is an evolving situation, we will make every effort to provide timely updates regarding any changes in practices and circumstances.
We thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this challenge and remain focused on providing exceptional care and services for our patients.
