Anthony J. Zizzamia, Jr., M.P.H., RN, President and Executive Director

Tony joined Liberty in September 2000 after being involved in home care operations for more than 30 years. As an executive, he has managed clinical services for a public health department, hospital-based home care agencies, free-standing, not-for-profit home care and hospice organizations, and for-profit, free-standing companies. Tony also has held board leadership positions in home care associations in North Carolina, Illinois and Georgia. A Registered Nurse, he holds the Certification for Home & Hospice Care Executives (CHCE), and earned a Master’s Degree in Public Health. You can read Tony’s blog here.

Karen Hogan, APN, MSN, Senior Director of Regulatory Compliance

Karen joined theLiberty team in 1996. Currently, she manages quality initiatives for Liberty’s home health, hospice and nursing services programs. Karen has been involved in home care operations, staff development and quality improvement for more than 25 years. Her experience includes home health staff nursing and clinical administration positions with health department-based and private, for-profit, free-standing agencies. Active in many association committees, Karen has served on the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Association for Home and Hospice Care. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Master’s Degree in Nursing from East Carolina University.

Sandy Marshall, RN, BSN, Vice President of Home Care Services

Sandy has been involved in home care operations for more than 30 years, commencing with home care skilled nursing visits. She has experience as a surveyor with the CHAP national accrediting organization, and has worked as a home care and hospice consultant with multiple national consulting firms in more than 26 states. Sandy has been an active participant and supporter of both national and state advocacy groups supporting home care and is a past president of the Association for Home and Hospice Care in NC. Sandy’s clinical background is in oncology and home care nursing with a BSN from ECU. She has also completed studies in health care leadership and administration at UNC-Chapel Hill, ECU and Western Carolina and holds a certification in Project Management.

Holly MacDonald, RN, BSN, Vice President of Hospice Services

Holly has worked in the hospice and home health care field for more than 27 years throughout North Carolina, including more than 20 at Liberty. During her tenure at Liberty, Holly has served as a Field Nurse, Patient Care Coordinator, Operations Manager, and Senior Director for Hospice Clinical Services. Holly earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Western Carolina University.

Glenn Wells, Senior Director of Sales & Marketing

Serving at the helm of Liberty’s Sales and Marketing team, Glenn has been involved in healthcare management, sales, and marketing for more than 15 years. Glenn started his career in healthcare as a sales representative with a national home medical equipment company. His other healthcare accomplishments include starting and managing a certified agency that provided pharmacy and home medical equipment services. He also served as Vice President of Homecare Coordination with a large regional home health provider in North Carolina. Currently, Glenn serves as President of Cape Fear Group Homes, Inc., a non-profit organization serving autistic and mentally handicapped adults. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a degree in Environmental Studies.
